Si ATM to Upgrade Air Traffic Management System in Riga

Following previous successful cooperation, Si ATM has in October 2010 signed a contract with LGS, Latvia, for modernization of the Latvian air traffic management system.

The main components in the two years project are:

  • Replacement of all hardware and stepwise migration from IBM’s operating system AIX to Linux.
  • Development of an advanced arrival manager function including automatic advisories for speed control, vectoring, holdings and orbits.
  • Implement changes according to amendment 1 to Procedures for Air Navigation Services, Air Traffic Management, ICAO Document 4444, i.e. the new flight plan format.
  • Gradually migrate Eurocontrol OLDI from X.25 to the new Eurocontrol Flight Message Transfer Protocol (TCP/IP) procedures.
  • Expand to full OLDI according to version 4.1 of the Eurocontrol specification and connect to all neighbors.
  • Implement full support of Eurocontrol’s ATS Data Exchange Presentation format for flight data.
  • Utilization of Mode-S, both elementary and enhanced data.
  • Integration of wide area multilateration information in the Multi Sensor Tracker (MST).
  • Support for Eurocontrol’s Aeronautical Information Exchange Model format in handling of adaptation data and maps.
  • Additional workstations, and
  • about 25 other minor functionality changes.

The project also includes prototyping of new working procedures and human-machine-interface for the tower and ground controllers to be implemented in the previously delivered tower simulator.

Inauguration of the Riga Tower Simulator

The Si ATM delivered Tower Simulator (TSim) was officially inaugurated by LGS, Air Navigation Service Provider in Latvia, in a ceremony on September 23, 2010, in the presence of guests from neighboring Air Navigation Service Providers, Si ATM and the Swedish embassy.

Upgrade of Prague’s Surveillance Data Processing System

Si ATM has in August 2010 successfully completed the upgrade of the Surveillance Data Processing System (SDPS) in Prague to Mode-S functionality.

The Czech Republic Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) uses the previously delivered Si ATM SDPS system for feeding their radar bypass system with tracks produced by the Multi Sensor Tracker from Si ATM.

Si ATM Extends ISO 9001 Certification

Si ATM has been certified according to ISO 9001 since 2006. The certification was extended in September 2009 to the current standard ISO 9001:2008. This new certification is valid until September 2012.

In connection with this the company also adapted the quality system to encompass NATO standards Allied Quality Assurance Publication AQAP-2110.

Si ATM AB has in cooperation with PT Bumiloka Tegar Perkasa established their first Research and Demo Center in Selatan, Jakarta, Indonesia.

3D Tower Simulator delivered to LGS

In December 2007 a contract was signed between Latvia Gaisa Satiksme, LGS and Si ATM for a 3-D Tower simulator (TSim). The now delivered 3D Tower simulator, constitutes one important link in Si ATM’s simulator range. With the introduction of TSim the Si ATM simulator portfolio, i.e. TSim, BasSim and Si ATCSim, can be combined to cover full Gate-To-Gate scenarios. Read more…
