TSim is a 3-D Simulator that covers full Gate-to-Gate scenarious.
The complete 3D tower simulator comprises three main segments:
1. Simulator segment
2. Visualisation segment
3. Operational segment
The simulator segment drives the simulation process by generating traffic for the operational and visualisation segments - its primary functions are as follows:
· Controlling the execution of an exercise, i.e. processing the Exercise Plan. It contains a number of Simulation Plans, one for each participating aircraft, used to generate the traffic scenario.
· Generation of Flight Plan Data that is fed into the operational segment. Each Flight Plan is based on a Simulation Plan for an aircraft.
· Generation of Track Data that is fed into the operational segment. Each track is based on the corresponding Simulation Plan. One pseudo-pilot can during the course of an exercise navigate multiple aircraft and vehicles.
· Generation of meteorological data.
The visualisation segment creates the “Out-Of-The-Window” view for the Tower Controller with objects based on target data from the simulator segment. Additionally the system is capable of setting any 3D viewpoint, e.g. cockpit view for a moving object. Its primary characteristics are as follows:
· Use of the latest 3-D modelling tools for creation of detailed 3D airports, aircraft and vehicles.
· Display of realistic weather scenarios, e.g. fog, rain, snow, dust storms in various wind directions.
· Display of seasonal characteristics on the 3D airport model and its objects, i.e. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
· Display of special effects such as explosions, smoke, fire to support exercises with accident scenarios.
The operational segment provides the controller with the functionality for Aerodrome, Approach and En-Route control of the ATRACC system. ATRACC is the Air Traffic Control System for the Riga FIR. It has been designed, produced and implemented by Si ATM in close cooperation with LGS and is fully operational. LGS provides Air Navigation Services in the Latvian airspace.
