30th Year Anniversary of TERCAS
The 30th year anniversary of TERCAS was celebrated on the 15th of April 2011 in Moscow with a grand banquet in the
magnificent art gallery named after Russian artist Tsereteli. More than 400 specially invited guests, VIPs and distinguished personalities from the Russian air navigation community were entertained with speeches and performances while enjoying a wonderful dinner.
Given the significant role Si ATM has had both on the development and maintenance of TERCAS, it was natural for a delegation of Si ATM board members to participate in the celebration. Several speakers recognized the important contribution of Si ATM to the TERCAS success story, stressing the positive Russian – Swedish relations created along these 30 years. In his speech, Si ATM’s Managing Director, Christer Schorling, congratulated the Moscow Centre to their great success and expressed gratitude for the excellent cooperation during these years. He also underlined the fundamental role of Si ATM for this success and declared Si ATM’s intention of caring for the valued relations by providing its support for the years to come.
TERCAS, the ATM system of Moscow FIR, handles en-route, terminal and aerodrome control at a number of aerodromes in a vast Russian area. Delivered from Sweden, TERCAS went operational in April 1981 and was considered the most modern and advanced system in the world with functionality unique for its time. It performs advanced tracking of radar data from 15 radar stations and has a complete automatic flight plan data processing function based upon full scale trajectory prediction.
